I'm Lucy, founder of LES FLEURS.
A love of nature awakened in me as a small child playing in the ancient bluebell woods & chalk-land meadows of rural Dorset, following my older brother around as he searched for mushrooms and butterflies, or my artist parents as they drew and painted our immediate environment.
This was a great privilege which allowed me to experience a species rich world, to observe and be part of our ecosystem.
Wild posies were always part of the family tradition, simple and seasonal, from the tiniest violets in spring to huge vines of fluffy wild clematis, hung from the beams of our cottage kitchen in autumn.
Having studied fine art at the University of Brighton, working as a scenographer in clubs and music festivals, and running a music studio, I moved to the sauvage Cotentin peninsula in France with my young family.
A unique microclimate, this region ignited a love of the botanical further and I became a gardener & garden designer,.
A move to the Dordogne region in 2013 marked the start of a new adventure , working as wedding venue manager , event planner and occasional florist at the exceptional Chateau de la Bourlie. an experience which has been invaluable in understanding event floristry for an international clientele.
The call of the earth was stronger than the office and I was inspired to get back to it , so LES FLEURS began with a few packets of seeds back in 2019, tentatively planted with no real clue about what was to unfold....
Going into our 5th season, we want to celebrate 2025 with an ever deeper commitment to working WITH nature, & creative adventures both at home and further afield, always remaining conscious of sustainability and local sourcing of materials.
